STEM Goes Red

Our future is why.
STEM Goes Red is the American Heart Association’s nationwide movement dedicated to empowering a future generation of female STEM leaders, while providing them with the tools and resources for living long, healthy lives. As cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one killer of women, ensuring more women are at the forefront of developing science, technology, education and math (STEM) solutions has never been more imperative. STEM is our future and as a science-based organization, STEM is at the heart of who we are and what we do.
The Need.
Women fill close to half of all jobs in the U.S., but hold less than 25% of STEM jobs, of which there are millions becoming available. Employment in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) occupations is projected to grow, and women are vastly underrepresented in these fields. The demand for workers in the STEM fields is outpacing the number of college graduates with science, technology, engineering, and math degrees.
Columbus STEM Goes Red
Columbus STEM Goes Red is building a brighter future, stopping heart disease before it starts, and paving the way to healthier communities. Our Columbus STEM Goes Red will inspire and empower female high school students to pursue a career in a STEM, as well as arm them with the tools and resources they need to pursue their dreams and live healthy lives themselves. These young women will have an opportunity to come together and experience the exciting world of STEM, hear from female industry STEM leaders, participate in mentoring sessions and engage their minds through STEM related activities. Innovation and big thinking takes young, emerging students committed to making change happen. These students are ready to become catalysts for change. Will you join us?
